The reduced form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) is a bio-reducing agent, which plays an important role in various cellular metabolic pathways and energy systems as an electron carrier. NADPH is an important cofactor in many biosynthesis pathways that control fundamental cellular processes and mainly produced through the pentose phosphate pathway in animals. In this presentation, we report a NADPH sensor based on a quinone derivative molecule which undergoes restructuring in response to changes of intracellular NADPH level. The quinone derivative was modified with fluorescein dye and quencher molecule which diminished fluorescence of the fluorescein dye. In the presence of NADPH, the quinone derivative was reduced followed by cleavage of the fluorescein resulting in recovering the fluorescence.<br/>
