Although an extremely powerful characterization tool, traditional Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometers, are not ideally suited to process analytics.  The size and routine maintenance requirements paired with the expensive capital and operating expenditures have left this non-destructive, inherently quantitative technique largely excluded from inline industrial processes.  The recent developments of a new class of NMR instrumentation – the benchtop NMR spectrometer – offers an interesting alternative with which to develop reliable, continuous-flow analytical methods necessary to incorporate this technique into understanding and improving chemical processes.<br/> <br/>Herein, we discuss the modifications to a compact, permanent magnet-based 60 MHz benchtop NMR spectrometer to allow high-temperature reaction monitoring, explosion proofing and remote communication with the spectrometer to allow it to be automatically processed in a remote location.   We have explore the efficacy of benchtop NMR for a variety of online reactions – including esterifications, hydrogenations, hydrosilations, reductions, oxidations and decarboxlations.  We will present data, discuss the benefits of NMR in addition to, or instead of existing PAT methods, and discuss the limitations and future of multi-nuclear benchtop NMR for online reaction monitoring.<br/>
