There is a constant need in the scientific community for efficient and selective catalysts for the hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds. Some of the most efficient catalysts are artificial enzyme mimics containing metal ions such as Cu(II), Fe(III) or Zn(II). The purpose of this study is to synthesize pentadentate ligands with variable intramolecular distance between two metal ions of the corresponding binuclear complexes. Preliminary data for synthesis and catalyst evaluation will be discussed.
