Isomers of dithia[24]crown-8-ether (DTC) form (pseudo)rotaxanes of dialkyl ammonium and the Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes depending on the position of the sulfur atoms and the reaction conditions. The complexation of Pd with dithia[24]crown-8-ether (DTC) and decomplexation by PPh<sub>3</sub> addition led to reversible shuttling of the [2]rotaxane which is composed of DTC and dialkylammonium. Different kind of shuttling behavior is observed by <i>N</i>-acetylation of the ammonium of the axle component causing irreversible structural change. Preparation of the rotaxane polymers containing multiple DTC molecules are mentioned.
