Exploratory catalyst and process concept testing started at UOP in 1979 with the construction of the first laboratory pilot plants. The need for further Proof of Principle testing was recognized in the early 1990s and the Easy Proof of Principle (EZPOP) lab was commissioned in 1995. This presentation will discuss some of the capabilities of the early exploratory lab and use of lessons learned in the design of the EZPOP lab.  The current EZPOP lab capabilities as well as some of the technologies supported by EZPOP testing will be discussed. Also, a brief history of my experiences at UOP that led to my current position will be presented.<br/>
