In the past decade, cross-electrophile coupling has become an effective strategy for C–C bond formation. This valuable coupling platform makes use of two bench-stable electrophiles, such as an aryl halide and an alkyl halide, that are then traditionally united through transition metal catalysis and the use of an external reductant. Herein, we present a unique strategy for the coupling of aryl and heteroaryl halides with activated alkyl halides via the merger of photoredox and transition metal catalysis.
