In recent years, as an effective technology for enhanced oil recovery(EOR), water-soluble polymer flooding has been widely used at home and abroad. However, with the developments turned into deeper reservoir, tougher conditions presented more frequently. In this situation, some water-soluble polymer revealed many weaknesses in practical application, such as temperature-tolerance and salt-resistance.<br/>Recently, hybridization of nanoparticles with pure water-soluble polymer has attracted considerable atttention and achieved significant advancement. In this work, maleic anhydride was utilized to attain the modified β-cyclodextrin (MAH-β-CD), and the MAH-β-CD was copolymerized with acrylamide(AM) and 2-acrylamido-2-methyl propane sulfonic acid(AMPS) to synthesize a novel water-soluble polymer (AAMC) via radical polymerization. The copolymer structure and microstructure were characterized by means of FTIR, 1HNMR spectroscopy and SEM. Hybrid aqueous solutions were prepared by mixing silica nanoparticle suspension and AAMC solution, and their rheological properties were exanined under different salinities, temperature, and aging times, which showed that AAMC/silica hybrid exhibits viscosity and viscoelasticity enhancement in aqueous solution and better salt-resistance, temperature-tolerance than AAMC. Furthermore, the viscosity of AAMC/silica was about 2.5 times higher than that of AAMC at T=80°C after 15 days upon addition of 0.8wt% of silica nanoparticles. The Fourier transform spectral data confirmed that the carbonyl group of amide and hydroxyl group of MAH-β-CD in the copolymer chains can interact with the silanol functionalities on the surface of silica nanoparticles by forming hydrogen bond.
