Antibiotic resistance is on the rise and new methods of treating bacteria are more than ever important. While it is incredibly important to find new antibiotics it may be equally important to revive the antibiotics currently available. Drug combinations have been used to help minimize resistance and to increase bacteria susceptibility to current antibiotics. Our lab has generated a series of substituted parabens that have shown the ability to resensitize <i>S</i>. <i>aureus</i> to penicillin G and erythromycin. Herein, we will discuss the results of our initial screening of various 3,5-substituted parabens and their ability to enhance the MIC of these common antibiotics.
