The use of organoboron compounds in organic chemistry has had significant impacts as these species were employed as stoichiometric reducing agents, nucelophiles for cross coupling processes and more recently, as catalysts themselves for frustrated Lewis pair type reductions. Crudden group contributions in the last two areas will be presented focusing on the use of chiral organoboranes in cross coupling chemistry and the development of mild, borenium-ion catalysts for reduction processes.
