Benzylboronic acid pinacol ester activated by organolithium reagents has been examined as a nucleophile with aldehydes and other electrophiles. This reaction demonstrates chemoselective transfer of the benzyl group over other alkyl groups to the electrophile. <sup>11</sup>B NMR spectroscopy was employed to support the mechanism.
