Nanotechnology provides the opportunity to innovate and improve on current cancer treatments. Currently, core shell nanoparticles are a subject of ongoing research due to its potential as a drug delivery system.  We report the synthesis of gold, silica and silica@gold core shell nanoparticles for functionalization with anti-cancer drugs. The synthesis was achieved using already developed methods for each nanoparticle according to the revised literature.  The diluted wet chemical method for gold nanoparticles and the Stöber method for silica nanoparticles. The reduction of HAuCl4 on silica/NH2 surface was achieved by the coating of the silica nanoparticles with Au. All Nanoparticles were characterized by UV- Vis spectroscopy and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS).Gold nanoparticles presented the LSPR around 537.97 nm and size diameter of 35 nm. Silica nanoparticles were analyzed by DLS, the size diameter was 150 nm. The core shell nanoparticles were studied by Uv-Vis Spectroscopy, and we observed a red shift of the LSPR as a function of coating with a peak center around 800nm. Studies combining the core shells with Capacetabine shows changes in color of the nanoparticles and a red shift of the LSPR as function of drug concentration.  Stability studies of the core shell nanoparticles will be performed.
