Metal complexes containing Schiff base ligands exhibit superior properties and play vital roles for catalytic, biological, medical and material studies. We have designed, synthesized and characterized a series of mononuclear lanthanide complexes containing various Schiff bases. A series of lanthanide complexes coordinating with 3,5-dichlorosalicylaldehyde Schiff bases have been reported in our previous works. Tetradentate Schiff bases for lanthanide complexes have been adapted in the facile route syntheses, X-ray characterization and luminescent investigations. New families of new anionic mononuclear lanthanide complexes containing tetradentate dihalosalicylaldehyde Schiff bases have been prepared and structuralized in the general formula of [Ln(SBX)2]- (SB = Schiff base; X = Br, I). We here present the synthesis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction of [HNEt3][Ln(salenBr)2].
