For over ten years, the Interactive Online Network of Inorganic Chemists (IONiC) has sought to improve teaching and learning in Inorganic Chemistry. The foundation of this community is the Virtual Inorganic Pedagogical Electronic Resource (VIPEr) website. With over 1,150 registered faculty users from around the world, VIPEr is a vibrant community of practice for committed educators. The feature of the greatest value to the majority of our users is the continued development of high quality learning objects (LOs) which range from problem sets to laboratories to literature discussions. The site currently houses approximately 750 LOs many of which were developed at our Back to Grad School Workshops. As we transition into the next phase of this project, we will continue to grow the community and the resources on VIPEr through faculty development workshops. However, our primary focus is going to be the development of a “VIPEr-ized” foundation level inorganic course which will bring current literature into the classroom.
