The N<sub>2</sub>S<sub>2</sub> ligand scaffold has been well established to be useful in the synthesis of heterobimetallic species. Recently these species, including a Ni-Fe complex, have been demonstrated to be electrocatalytically active in proton reduction to form hydrogen gas. This work aims to utilize this established scaffold to address another important chemical transformation facing chemists: The reduction of carbon dioxide. Here, we will demonstrate our progress in synthesizing a Mo-Cu complex, reminiscent of the active site of a carbon monoxide dehydrogenase enzyme, as well as studies of a Ni-Re complex's ability to bind carbon dioxide and its analogues.
