The powder catalyst does not ensure a constant operation by means of fixed or packed bed reactor in industrial scale due to the high empty bed pressure and blocking of the reactor. The binders, as indispensable additives in molding process, would provide mechanical strength in industrial application and significantly suppress the mass transfer for shaped catalyst. Here, a long lifetime catalyst with relatively highly shape-selective for methanol to aromatics (MTA reaction) was prepared through hydrothermal transformation method using extrusion products as starting material. As a result, the binder incorporates with silica sol and aluminum nitrate to form ZSM-5 zeolite with organic template steam assisted. Meanwhile, an interesting intra-particle pore structure was formed within the monoliths. The zeolite catalysts were characterized by XRD, NH3-TPD, FT-IR, N2 adsorption, TG, SEM, TEM, ICP and Al MAS-NMR. It is demonstrate the superior catalytic performance was obtained for catalyst with a broad acid strength distribution due to the disappearance of silicon adhesive and silicon aluminum adhesive agent converting into zeolite crystals.
