The Chemistry Club at Carthage College is a student-run organization that aims to create a welcoming community of students and faculty interested in chemistry and to increase the involvement of its members in chemistry-related activities outside of the class room or laboratory. Students are encouraged to become familiar with faculty through regular meetings and at student-faculty lunches hosted by the Chemistry Club. The Chemistry Club also sponsors other fun social activities for members to develop community, such as cohosting an annual picnic with the Physics Club, celebrating chemistry-related events like National Chemistry Week, and playing in laser tag tournaments. The Chemistry Club also focuses heavily on outreach to the community and alumni. Members preform demonstrations of chemical experiments for children, parents, and the general public throughout the year. The Chemistry Club also maintains contacts with alumni, inviting them to share their postgraduate experiences. This allows members to get a glimpse of the careers they may pursue and to ask the alumni questions about professional development.
