Continuous and convenient way of monitoring blood glucose level is essential for diabetes patients. However, conventional measurement of blood glucose level is discomport and non-continuous. Wearable devices can be a innovative tools in point-of-care treatments by non-invasive monitoring of physical sensing and biomedical information. Sweat-based glucose sensor enables real-time and continuous sensing of glucose concentrations. Here, we present sweat-based glucose monitoring and temperature responsive microneedles for treatment of diabetes mellitus. Porous gold structures and deposition of enzyme enhance the sensitivity to glucose. Moreover, measurement with multiple glucose sensors and correction with pH and temperature sensors can increase the accuracy of sensing the sweat glucose concentration. Drug-loaded phase change nanoparticles are embedded in hyaluronic acid microneedles. Drug delivery can be actuated by integrated heaters. Feedback therapy with microneedles can control the blood glucose level in normal range, as monitoring with glucose sensors. Combination of wearable glucose sensors and microneedles can make a closed-loop system of treatment of diabetes mellitus.
