<br/>The Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS) at The University of Tampa consists of students across multiple academic disciplines including chemistry, forensic science, biology, and more. The goals of SMACS include community outreach, exposure of members to academic research, and exploration of traditional and nontraditional career paths for science majors. Over the past several years, our members actively participated in outreach throughout the Tampa Bay community and surrounding cities. This outreach included activities for National Chemistry Week, events held on campus for the Girl Scouts of America, and other volunteer events in Tampa Bay. In the future we plan to include the Boy Scouts of America as well as local Elementary Schools in our events. Our presentation will discuss the activities and future directions of the organization as SMACS continues to grow at the University of Tampa.
