CCC-N heterocyclic carbene platinum pincer complexes have shown great promise as stable emitters.  Varying the ligand architecture can have a great effect on the photophysical properties of these complexes.  Previous characterization studies have been performed in bulk phases and many of these complexes show moderately high quantum yields along with good photostability in ambient atmosphere.  Here, we present results of newly-developed platinum pincer complexes at the single molecule level in choice atmospheres to help elucidate the unique properties of these complexes and evaluate their use as stable single photon emitters.
