Carbonic anhydrase (CA) is a zinc-containing metalloproteinase, in which the active zinc center is coordinating with three nitrogen atoms from histidine and one oxygen from water molecule. Zinc ion serves as a key catalytic factor in carbonic anhydrase to transform CO<sub>2</sub> into carbonate. Here, we found metal-organic frameworks can mimic the carbonic anhydrase to deal with CO<sub>2</sub>. Two materials (ZIF-100 and CFA-1) were synthesized to simulate carbonic anhydrase. The coordination of these two materials is similar to the CA activity center.ZIF-100 and CFA-1 were proved having the effect of mimici CA by detecting the hydrolysis of para-nitrophenyl acetate (p-NPA) at 402 nm by UV-vis. It was found that ZIF-100 and CFA-1 show the effect on catalyzing the hydrolysis of the catalytic substrate.In addition, ZIF-100 and CFA-1 have good catalytic effect on carbon dioxide.
