A facile and versatile method was developed to produce nanocomposites (nanopeapods) via the capture of preformed BaTiO<sub>3 </sub>nanoparticles (NPs) in scrolled nanosheets. A microwave based approach was used that allowed the fabrication of the nanopeapods (NPPs) at a much faster and efficient means (~2 hrs) as compared to conventional solvothermal treatments (~ 6 hrs). Preformed BaTiO<sub>3</sub> NPs (≤ 15 nm) used in this study were prepared by reported methods. The outcome of using this method yielded fully and partially loaded NPPs in relatively high yields. When NPs of different sizes are present, clear evidence of size selectivity within the NPPs can be seen. This new microwave based approach to the fabrication of NPPs opens the door to much more facile routes in producing various other nanocomposites.
