Rhenium (I) tricarbonyl complexes have been used for various applications, specifically in anion sensing, due to their luminescent properties. These properties allow for increased sensitivity and improved limits of detection of anions at lower concentrations. Further, rhenium (I) complexes have also been widely used as catalysts in CO<sub>2</sub> reduction. We wish to explore the electrochemical studies of such redox reactions using the various rhenium (I) complexes synthesized. We will report the synthesis of rhenium (I) tricarbonyl complexes based on various diimine ligands, their characterization, and applications in the sensing of potentially harmful anions.
