The intermolecular functionalization of aliphatic C-H bonds presents a challenging goal in synthetic chemistry. This type of transformation can lead to new synthetic strategies and is a powerful tool in late-state modification of complex target molecules. However, due to the inherent challenges of high stability and chemical similarity of aliphatic C-H bonds, the number of approaches to this problem is limited. Here, we report an intermolecular C-H alkylation using mild conditions via photoredox catalysis. This C-H alkylation proceeds in good yields with the substrate as the limiting reagent using an iridium photoredox catalyst and a phosphate base under blue LED irradiation. The alkylation of complex molecules occurs in useful yields and a variety of functionality is tolerated in the reaction. <br/>
