Anionic N-heterocyclic dicarbenes (NHDCs) have proven to be an effective platform to access various NHDC-based binuclear complexes, abnormal carbene-based complexes, poly-NHCs, and C4-functionalized N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs). In contrast to NHCs that can only be sulfurized at the C2 carbon, we recently discovered that NHDCs can be di- and tri-sulfurized affording the corresponding monothiolate and anionic dithiolene radical ligands, respectively. This presentation will cover our recent progress in the emerging area of monothiolate- and dithiolene–based main group chemistry.<br/>
