<br/>Nanocellulose is known to be a multifunctional material, which is attracting attention in a myriad of fields such as biomaterials, engineering, biomedicine, opto/electronic devices, nanocomposites, textiles, cosmetics and food products. In fact, the advantageous properties of nanocellulose such as flexibility, low density, biodegradability, printability, high porosity and optical transparency are of interest in wearable devices. We will discuss how nanocellulose can be transformed into a simple and low-cost stick-on nanoplasmonic patch that is able to alert the users on a safe sun exposure dose via a change in color. The device is made of silver nanoparticles embedded within a film of nanopaper. As silver nanoparticles undergo photodegradation upon UV light exposure and nanoplasmonic properties strongly depend on particle size, this wearable device changes color once it has been exposed to a certain amount of UV light (ex., 1000 W m<sup>-2</sup>, during 15 minutes).<br/>
