In this study the structural features of several new novel higher coordinate Au(I) tertiary phosphine and phosphine oxide complexes are reported. In particular the synthesis and structural features of gold(I) complexes containing tris(4-methoxyphenyl)phosphine (MPP), and bis(2-methoxyphenyl) - phosphine oxide(MPPO) are reported along with several other tertiary phosphine complexes. Characterization of the crystals were conducted using vibrational FTIR and FT-Raman, UV-Vis spectroscopy, NMR (<sup>31</sup>P), and single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. In the MPP complex up to three phosphine ligands can be coordinated providing stable distorted tetrahedral feature at the metal center with the fourth chloride ligand in the coordination sphere. In the MPPO complex, the structure exhibits a dinuclear aurophilic interaction with a relatively short gold-gold distances. The two molecules units are aligned in a perpendicular fashion to each other. Analysis of the crystal packing for the complex shows various types of intermolecular interaction including C-H---π and C-H---O type interactions dictating the crystal morphology.  The complexes are highly luminescent in the solid state.<br/>
