Here we show synthesis of core-shell structured metal and metal oxide@zeolite catalysts, which combine the advantages of both zeolite shape selectivity and metal high activity in catalytic reactoins. For example, a manganese oxide catalyst with zeolite sheath (MnOx@S-1), which exhibits high selectivity for producing nitriles by efficiently facilitating the oxidative cyanation; when photocatalyst TiO<sub>2</sub> is fixed inside of zeolite crystals, it is given ideal performances for the selective degradation of pollutants but are harmless to the organisms; when Pd nanoparticles are encapsulated inside of zeolite crystals, it is shown high furan selectivity in the hydrogenation of biomass-derived furfural.
