The application of transition metal catalysis to a borylation step for the synthesis of crisaborole, a drug for the topical treatment for inflammatory skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, is presented. The presentation includes screening work for finding a suitable catalytic system as well as further optimization to turn this step into a scalable process.<br/>
