As researchers generate new scientific results, they face the challenge of mastering the art of scientific publication in order to present their results and to draw attention to their new research findings and conclusions. While the electronic age has made the publication process easier and quicker, optimizing the structure of a convincing manuscript, that is clear, concise, and captivating, can be challenging and requires a certain degree of skill and proficiency. As the ~1200 scientific research articles, successfully published every year in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, tend to have a number of elements in common, this presentation will summarize the key steps involved in writing an effective paper. Valuable tips are put together to help new authors preparing a successful manuscript and guidance will be given to help scientists casting their paper in the best possible light when submitting to the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
