Iron porphyrins sensitized with CuInS2 quantum dots (QDs) are high-performing photocatalyts for reduction of CO2 to CO, and, under some conditions, CH4, in both organic and aqueous dispersions. This talk will outline some of the structural and chemical parameters that dictate short (angstrom-) range and longer (nm-) range interactions within non-covalent assemblies of these materials, and how these interactions influence the sensitization efficiency of the QD and the overall catalytic efficiency of the system.
