The density, conductivity, and viscosity of the ionic liquid (IL), 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methylphosphonate, [C2C1im][(OMe)(H)PO2], were measured as a function of temperature. The viscosity and density decreased with temperature, whereas the conductivity increased with temperature. The viscosity data were well fit by the Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann (VFT) equation. The density, conductivity, and viscosity of binary mixtures of this IL with 1-methylimidazole, 1-ethylimazole, 1-propylimidazole, and 1-butylimidazole as functions of temperature and composition were also measured. The Grundberg-Nissan (GN) interaction model was used to describe the viscosity of the mixtures as a function of composition, with deviations from the ideal viscosity being described by the Redlich-Kister (RK) equation. The relationship between the molar conductivity and the inverse of the viscosity (the fluidity) of this IL and IL/alkylimidazole mixtures was determined through the use of Walden plots.
