Ultrafine bubbles / nanobubbles have seen increasing interest in recent years, initially driven by markets in Japan, but now increased interest on a global basis. Standardization activities are under way in ISO committee TC281. As part of the work here, methods are being developed to provide users with a starter method and guidance for all the main techniques used, notably those such as NTA/ PTA and RMM which both provide size and concentration. We will share some of the results and outline the potential best method for RMM for ultrafine bubble measurement, and discuss which measurands are potentially more appropriate.  The full range of techniques used in nanobubble characterization will be reviewed, with each of their strengths and weaknesses. Example results will include recent developments in nanobubble generator performance. Discussion of the methods for each technique will include some operating parameters which must be optimized for best results. Example data will include stability tests and representative data from a range of application spaces.
