Air pollution is a global problem that demands urgent solutions. The goal of the presented research is to determine the concentrations of such air polluting gases as NO, NO2, CO2, CO, and CH4 in the air at different locations in Tbilisi, Georgia. In particular, NO2 is harmful to health; it causes acid rain and, together with hydrocarbons, participates in cyclic processes which cause the formation of the air polluting O3 in the troposphere. In this research, air samples have been collected on a daily basis, at scheduled times, and at locations where traffic jams are common during peak hours. Each air sample collection took approximately five minutes. Subsequently, the air-filled cylinders were delivered to the laboratory, connected to the device that recorded the concentration data along with temperature and pressure conditions. NO and NO2 levels were determined using a chemiluminescent method. These data were then processed using Excel, summarized, and stored for further analysis. Cylinders were washed every day and prepared for the next day’s sampling and measurements. Final results of this research will be presented.
