In partnership with Chemaxon, Questel has integrated chemical indexing and searching capabilities into its software suite, including Orbit Intelligence, a worldwide patent database, and Orbit Intellixir, which combines patents and non-patent literature for in-depth analyses. The systems allow users to search and detect chemical structures as well as substructures in both patent and scientific literature by using all names for the same molecule. This enables users to automatically search all chemical synonyms simultaneously when entering text (common, trade or IUPAC names, etc.), numbers (CAS) or molecule drawings. The integration of the chemistry module into the Advanced Search module of Orbit Intelligence allows an easy combination of chemical structures with other data fields such as applicant names, legal status and keywords. Orbit Intellixir categorization helps users to cross chemical structures with other information, including technical domain or industry players over time. This presentation will cover the technical features of the tools in more detail, including the facilitated view of structures in context.
