Dynamic covalent bonds have been a center-piece in the design and synthesis of responsive materials. Indeed, responsive nanoscale assemblies are of interest in a variety of applications, including catalysis, sensing, drug delivery, tissue engineering and diagnostics.  We have developed polymer-based amphiphilic supramolecular assemblies, which not only exhibit specific stimulus-responsive features, but these assemblies can also be programmed to bind guest molecules efficiently.  Nature of these guest molecules range from small hydrophobic molecules to large hydrophilic molecules such as proteins. We have utilized these design know-hows to generate functional nanomaterials with novel capabilities for a variety of applications. We will discuss the molecular design rules for generating such materials and their applications in generating autonomous responses from nanomaterials.
