Crystal surfaces are reactive in a wide variety of natural and engineered systems, and mineralogy can evolve substantially as a function of time, extent of reaction, and solution conditions. We use the rate of reductive dissolution or oxidative mineral growth to quantitatively compare reactivity of materials as a function of a broad range of experimental variables.  We extensively characterize solid state materials before, during, and after reaction as well as track the loss or production of dissolved species.  Finally, reactions at mineral surfaces are commonly accompanied by substantial changes in phases present as well as crystal shape, which can result in dramatic changes in reactivity.<br/>
