Transition metal hydride complexes play crucial roles in organometallic chemistry especially related to numerous homogeneous catalysis. The past two decades have witnessed a tremendous growth of study on new structures and reactivity of nickel hydride complexes. Monovalent nickel species play as important intermediate in many catalytic transformations such as enzymatic processes. Herein, we report the synthesis of a rare linear NHC supported dinuclear nickel(I) hydride monocation complex and test its reactivity towards organonitriles.
