Improving air quality, protecting water quality and quantity, and mitigating climate change are often intrinsically multi-national problems.  Primary air pollutants and secondary air pollutant precursors can be carried across oceans as well as nearer national borders. Major rivers are often badly polluted or even completely dry when they reach downstream nations.  Cross border aquifers can be polluted and/or pumped dry as demand grows or recharge decreases.  Successfully mitigating global change requires actions from all nations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and maximize and protect ecosystems that absorb and retain key carbon and nitrogen species. International teams that include atmospheric and environmental chemists need to define key problems and identify fair and successful strategies to address these issues and to educate and support the national decision makers who must negotiate fair and timely solutions.<br/>
