This lecture will describe the preparation of new polymer materials that mediate fluid-fluid interfaces to afford 'smart droplets'. These versatile, functional droplets demonstrate the ability to recognize materials on surfaces, transport materials across surfaces, and relocate materials from one surface to another. Controlling the strength of covalent and/or non-covalent bonding interactions is crucial for enabling the successful function of the droplet encapsulants/carriers.
