<br/>Phase contrast microscopy has been a key tool for life science since its invention. The biggest limitation in phase contrast microscopy is its lack of chemical selectivity. We overcome this limitation through development of bond-selective phase contrast microscopy. Specifically, an infrared laser is used to induce molecular absorption and local change of refractive index, which is detected quantitative by a visible beam through the phase contrast. This technology allows sub-micron spatial resolution and millisecond temporal resolution chemical imaging of living systems.<br/>
