Le Chatelier’s Principle predicts how a system at equilibrium responds to stress. As a chemist who is married to a chemist, we have tried to simultaneously solve the two-body problem in job searches (and done so successfully 4 times!). Our system is constantly “under stress,” including from the education and activities of our 3 children. We learned long ago that “having it all” is an unrealistic expectation. But we do have both a family and our careers. This presentation will share the solutions to conference travel and workplace policies that have benefited us as we seek to “remove the stress” and achieve a balance between our professional and personal lives, particularly as parents.
