ReBUILDetroit is a National Institutes of Health funded partnership between University of Detroit Mercy (DM) and Wayne State University (WSU) that seeks to diversify the biomedical workforce through an undergraduate research enrichment program. Each institution has an undergraduate training program that shares common elements, governed by a steering committee, seeking to improve 4-year graduation rates and increase persistence in STEM majors. Program strategies include pre-matriculation summer experiences for incoming scholars, cross-institutional programming, learning communities, early entry into mentored research experiences, intrusive academic advising, and preparing students for careers in biomedical research. ReBUILDetroit Scholars have higher institutional retention rates and show gains in self-assessed measures of Science Identity after completing one year in the program.<br/>
