<br/>The low number of minorities opting for careers in science, mathematics, and engineering technology (STEM) has been of concern for many decades.  In addition, the relative number of minorities opting for careers in STEM has not changed substantially over the past few decades.  However, the picture is not entirely bleak.  This talk will highlight success stories regarding undergraduate and graduate education for underrepresented groups in chemistry. At Cameron University the McNair Scholars and the Louis Stokes Minority Alliance programs have encouraged students to major in STEM disciplines and have provided financial assistance to help the students complete their degrees.  The depth of involvement of students in these programs and their success’ in reaching their career goals will be discussed.<br/> <br/>
