The highly hydrophilic and solvent-stable porous SiO2, TiO2, and ZrO2 polyamide-imide (PAI) composite hollow fibers were created by crosslinking of bare PAI hollow fibers with 3-aminopropyl trimethoxy silane (APS). These composite hollow fibers consist of bifunctional groups in the fiber wall that make them bifunctional catalysts for cooperative interactions (i.e., acid-base catalysis). The obtained composite hollow fibers were used under both batch and continuous-flow process for heterogeneously catalyzed glucose and fructose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural transformation, aldol and nitroaldol condensations, Heck coupling, and CO2 cycloaddition reactions. we identified a robust process window to produce composite hollow fiber microfluidic reactors for sustainable chemical transformation in flow. The composite hollow fiber microfluidic reactors showed long-term stability and strong control over the leaching of active species.
