Anion sensing in liquid ambient has attracted considerable attention for environmental monitoring. Thus far, numerous receptors have been invented for effective detection of anions in liquid environment. In particular, neutral receptors are one of the most attractive anion selectors facilitating hydrogen bond interaction between hydrogen atom and anion species. Nevertheless, real-time anion sensing with simple measurement technique still remains as a critical issue.  In this work, we present a new anion sensing platform using single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) decorated with neutral receptors as anion selectors. Firstly, SWCNTs were wrapped by poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) and tightly anchored on a glass substrate. Subsequently, molecules containing thiourea groups were functionalized at the pyridine sites as neutral anion selectors. Characteristic anion sensing properties are investigated toward various anions species. In addition, the effect of thiourea groups on anion sensing is discussed.
