Microplasma is a novel plasma technology that has attracted tremendous attentions from several fields due to their exceptional characteristics such as microscale geometry, stable operation at atmospheric pressure, non-equilibrium chemistry, and continuous-flow. These characteristics have made microplasma technology applicable for a significant number of materials applications, particularly nanomaterial synthesis. Research has shown that different microplasma systems have been utilized for synthesizing various nanomaterials including metallic, silicon, metal-oxide and carbon nanomaterials. However, the synthesis of sulfur-based nanostructures using microplasma has not been explored yet. In this research, we present the synthesis of metal sulfide nanoparticles from elemental sulfur and metalorganic precursor using a home-built microplasma setup. The setup is designed to operate under atmospheric pressure with safety considerations and permits flexible control over experimental parameters and direct product collection. The synthesized products are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Raman spectroscopy.
