C–H bond activation catalysts can demonstrate high reactivity, but suffer from low turnover number (TON) because of catalyst degradation or deactivation. The development of catalysts capable of functionalizing aliphatic C(sp3)-H bonds while retaining good catalyst stability remains an unsolved problem. Here we describe a manganese metal-organic framework (CPF-5) catalyst that promotes the direct amination of aliphatic C–H bonds. CPF-5 is capable of functionalizing various C(sp3)-H bonds in an intermolecular fashion, while displaying outstanding catalytic stability as a living C-H amination catalyst after 105 turnovers. CPF-5 highlights the potential of MOFs as catalysts that can achieve both high reactivity and stability that is not readily achieved in comparable homogenous catalysts.
