What a whirlwind of changes trying to catch my breath. Experienced two library mergers, one of which required the dismantling of the chemistry library and moving to another location. Information literacy rises to the forefront of liaison duties, personnel changes, faculty collaboration from multiple departments all indicate some of the changes facing the chemistry librarian position at my institution. With all the physical library changes along comes e-books, e-textbooks, open access, data management and the list continues for the format changes of resources that must all be integrated into our collection processes and information literacy classes.  I decided to retool in order to rise above the storm.  Retooling takes many avenues from attending workshops and conferences outside one’s librarian zone. Webinars whenever possible to learn new processes and ideas. Collaborating with other librarians to learn what you can from their attempts at sailing through the sea of changes.  A one-person dinghy will not survive the storm. I need an aircraft carrier with all of its amenities to meet the current and future needs of being a chemistry librarian.   <br/>
