Blockchain technology extends beyond bitcoin finding a myriad of uses in many other areas including the supply chain of chemical and pharmaceutical industries.   Discussed in this presentation will be smart contracts and utilizing machine to machine transactions, with reference to applications currently used in the chemical industry.  We will examine the legal implications and considerations when implementing these technologies utilizing recent case studies.  In addition, we will discuss the patent landscape of these technologies and the strategies for protecting IP in this space - including whether and when to patent. <br/>
