The Materials Genome Initiative is the Federal multi-agency initiative designed to discover, manufacture, and deploy advanced materials twice as fast, at a fraction of the cost. The machine learning proven to be handy tool to master the task despite the limitations on data collection, and hardship of normalization of material’s production details. Couple of successful machine learning-based solutions as well as yet to be addressed questions will be discussed for thermoelectric materials.<br/>Dealing with seemingly different matter, the Precision Medicine Initiative could benefit from adopting advanced machine learning approaches developed and tested in materials research. Challenges during the building a comprehensive scientific knowledge on a national cohort will be also discussed with the use of multi institution/ multi state electronic health records. Case studies such as Atopic Dermatitis, type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, and Heart Failure will be reviewed.
